MUN YOUTH ASSEMBLY

Proudly Introducing:

UNITED AMBASSADORS

The MUN Youth Assembly by United Ambassadors is a high-profile annual conference held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York where the most prominent MUN leaders from around the world are invited to engage in discussions on how MUN can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals, inspire its participants, and ultimately create a better world. It is hosted by United Ambassadors and the Permanent Mission of Canada to the United Nations in New York. The conference welcomes all active MUN participants aged 14-30, who may be high school or university students/ graduates attending individually or as a delegation that is collectively representing their MUN conference/ school. The conference is designed for forward-thinking, innovative youth leaders, and it is a valuable educational experience for students who wish to learn first hand how the real United Nations functions, as it will follow UN4MUN Rules of Procedure, in a one of a kind conference held at the heart of the UN Headquarters.

Venue/ Dates: United Nations Headquarters General Assembly Hall & the Sheraton Hotel NYC - August 22-25, 2017.

Conference Description: The MUN Youth Assembly is a real  UN-based Assembly, designed to provide a platform for leaders, experts, and achieved veterans in the Global Model UN landscape to discuss real MUN related trending topics and issues of concern from a conference organizer's perspective. Participants share views on how Model UN as a global activity can practically contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and how MUN conferences can evolve or structurally improve in order to achieve this objective while analyzing the evolving landscape and the future of Model UN worldwide. The theme of the MUN 2017 Youth Assembly is "Action 2030 - Let's Make MUN Change the World."

The Process: The MUN 2017 Youth Assembly will last for 4 days, 2 days in the General Assembly Hall, and 2 days of committee sessions at the Sheraton NYC. Throughout the conference, participants represent their actual MUN organization/ conference/ club. Delegates discuss advanced MUN strategy topics in a real conference setting. They discuss real topics that relate to the advancement fo the Model United Nations Community.  The objective of each committee is to produce a resolution with practical recommendations on each topic that follow the same format of a UN resolution. These resolutions are considered valid documents. Participants are encouraged to implement them in following years and their recommendations are seriously considered when setting criteria to select the finalists for the MUN Hall of Fame, a competition launched to recognize the world's most achieved leaders in the field of Model United Nations.  This is how Model United Nations students can realistically drive a change to make conferences and educational program participants more actively engaged with the United Nations' goals and values.
